A typical Bauformat kitchen runs $25,000 to $80,000 or more depending on the design, materials, and accessories.
The right candidate is a homeowner who has already seen what domestic brands offer and wants something different: tighter tolerances, European handle-less aesthetics, exotic door materials like ceramic or stone, and the prestige of a German-engineered kitchen. 100 percent manufactured and fully assembled in Germany. Bauformat traces its roots to 1917, when Otto Aßmann founded the workshop that became Burger Küchenmöbel in Burg near Magdeburg. The Baumann family’s joinery — Gebr. Baumann — started in Löhne in 1929. The two companies merged in 1991 under the baumann group, which now operates as Burger Küchenmöbel GmbH and Bauformat Küchen GmbH & Co. KG., and ranks among Germany’s top 5 kitchen manufacturers with €289 million in annual turnover.
Bauformat offers multiple handle-less profiles including the PURISTA (a sleek recessed grip channel) and the CP1. Both can be color-coded to match or contrast the door fronts. These profiles create the clean, minimal European kitchen aesthetic that is difficult to achieve with standard cabinet hardware.
Bauformat operates in a different tier. The laser-scanning manufacturing tolerances are tighter. The material range is wider (including ceramic and stone doors unavailable domestically). Cabinets ship fully assembled from Germany. The trade-off is price (2-4x a domestic semi-custom brand) and lead time (longer due to transatlantic shipping).
