We have our first meeting in our showroom. Our showroom is large, beautiful, and contains many beautiful displays. It also contains selections and samples from the many, many different cabinet, counter top, plumbing, tile, flooring and other manufacturers we work with. We ask that our clients bring in several pictures of their existing kitchen, so that we can use them as a reference during our discussions of your project.
In our first meeting, there are three main topics of discussion.
Our site visit is a very detailed measurement of the project area to be designed. Usually this is accomplished in a rather short amount of time. The idea of the site visit is to attain precise measurements, so the design time we spend together is based on true figures. We will also note any structural considerations that may affect the design, such as HVAC and plumbing locations.
We start with a basic design, utilizing the information from our first meeting, to give the design process a starting point. Then we schedule the design appointment. We utilize an excellent design software that allows us to work through the design with you, whether kitchen or bath or other, so that you can see a clear representation of what your finished project will look like. This is a great aid for most clients, especially with projects that include moving things like walls, appliances, windows, or simply using products that give a very different look to the room than is existing. Sometimes it’s difficult to understand the sum total of many changes, and our renderings help our clients make their decisions with confidence.
The next step is the ordering all the products. And if we’re also providing the labor, setting a tentative date to start the project.
The starting date is based on many variables, most notably the lead time for the products, as well as any scheduling concerns our clients and installers have. How long the project installation will take varies from project to project, and is part of the discussions we have in our first and subsequent meetings. We know how we would like to be treated if we were the client, and use that as the measure for what we do.
